Reasons may include a noticeably shorter runtime, sudden shutdowns, or a system message about the battery status. Similar symptoms occur with a faulty charger, port, or power circuits. Battery replacement is only necessary after verifying the cause.
What to tell us when you contact us
Please provide the exact laptop model, battery age, behavior when plugged in and unplugged, and the text of any battery status message. On many MacBook models, this can be found in the "Battery" settings, though it may be missing on older OS versions.
