What to check yourself

If liquid has spilled on the laptop, turn it off, do not connect the charger, and do not try to turn it on again. If there was no liquid damage, check the outlet and a compatible power adapter, then see if the charging indicator lights up. Disconnect external USB devices and the monitor, then try to turn on the laptop once. If you can hear the device running but the screen remains black, note this symptom for diagnostics.
When you need service
After liquid exposure, stop any self-checks. If the laptop does not respond to power or the screen remains black while the device is running, a diagnostic is needed to find the cause.
